Aurora Canvas Dome
The pine forest beside GLØD contains more than hares, moose and foxes! You can stay here in super stylish Aurora Canvas Domes. The roof and one of the walls of the domes are transparent. This, enhanced by the sounds of nature, gives you a special feeling of being close to nature. The large, comfortable Wonderland bed and wood-burning stove create a warm atmosphere on cool evenings. In the summertime, you can sit in the golden rays of the Midnight Sun and sip your favourite drink. The domes are equipped with toilets, electricity, Wi-Fi and underfloor heating, but not running water. Guests have access to the showers and sauna in the main building about 50 m from the domes.
Mountain biking in Alta
Alta is a mountain biker’s paradise. The Alta Valley features a network of natural trails winding up and down along the banks of the Alta River and up into the surrounding mountains. Just above is the majestic Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau with an endless network of trails and quad bike tracks from the Sami reindeer herders. For two days – and possibly a bonus trip on day one – you can enjoy flow and rock&roll in the Finnmark nature. It’s time to start looking forward to a unique and memorable adventure!
E-MTB or MTB
We offer high quality, full-suspension mountain bikes. The package price includes rental of an electric mountain bike, but you have the option of using an analogue model if you wish.
Trasti & Trine
On Saturday evening, we welcome you to one of Norway’s finest restaurants! This may sound like a bold claim since, to many people, Trasti & Trine is a well-kept secret. However, Johnny Trasti was awarded the title of “Chef of the Year” in Norway in 2010, he has had his own cooking show on TV2 and was for many years the chef for the Norwegian government. When Nelson Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize, guess who was responsible for the banquet dinner? Consequently, there is no hiding the fact that this promises to be a memorable culinary experience.
Trasti & Trine – where Johnny is the head chef and Trine runs dog sledding trips – is also a unique and special place.
Fjord safari
Join us on a fjord safari and storytelling about Alta, from earlier settlements up to the present day. You will pass an area of historic value and wonderful nature in the inner part of the Altafjord. You will have a close-up experience with the local wildlife and, if you are lucky, you will see white-tailed eagles, seals, sea birds and other species.
Guided and self-guided option
You can choose to do a self-guided version of the mountain biking part of this tour. This allows you to choose where you wish to ride. We will provide a GPS and map with biking routes programmed/marked. The same with lunch – with this option you may eat wherever you wish.
Prices
Full package including guide and lunch: NOK 12,690 per person sharing a double room
(This includes everything stated in the itinerary above – drinks to accompany the meals can also be included.)
Travelling to and from Alta
Alta is much closer than you might think – for instance, it’s just a 1 hour 45 min direct flight from Oslo Gardermoen. There are departures daily except Saturday.
Welcome to Alta and Finnmark!
