Geocaching is a form of orienteering where teams use GPS to try to find posts in the terrain around GLØD. This is a fun activity for families, groups of friends or colleagues. Geocaching is popular worldwide and “caches” are hidden in most countries. GLØD has created a version with our own little twist. We have created posts around the “English Forest” near GLØD containing different tasks or questions that you need to solve.
Geocaching is an activity that can be done in teams or individually but is always more fun when you compete against someone – like the rest of your family, company or group of friends. Everyone receives training in how to use a GPS before heading off in your own direction to hunt for the posts. You can have one GPS per group or one per person.
Theoretical and practical tasks
The various posts consist of theoretical and/or practical tasks. These posts may contain codes or information that combine to provide the answer – or alternatively they can contain an object to be used later in the activity.
Points for correct answers
Although the first team or person to finish gains points, the most important thing is to answer the various tasks correctly. We can adapt the questions to suit the group, whether it’s a family celebration, corporate event, birthday party or stag party, etc., but in this case some advance planning is required.
This is the perfect activity for those wishing to do something fun together and it quickly generates a team spirit and competitive instinct. Examples of practical tasks may include archery, setting up a tent, lighting a fire or creating a cairn. It’s also possible to combine canoeing and biking as a means of getting between the posts or as one of the practical tasks.
Adaptable activity
We set up a circuit every day that is suitable for most people. It consists of funny and relevant questions and a couple of practical tasks. This is perfect for families and groups wanting a short team activity. It will take about an hour, including a briefing.
We can add additional theoretical and practical tasks, which increases the duration longer and makes the activity more demanding. We have designed geocaching activities that have lasted an entire day, and there is nothing to prevent us from including accommodation as well.
Wintertime
In winter, we can do the same activity using snowshoes, skis or fat bikes.
As an extra measure this summer, we offer free cancellation of the activity up to one week prior to arrival.
Here are our terms and conditions.
