GLØD Aurora Canvas Dome
Really cool, stylish accommodation where you are so close to nature that you see and hear the squirrel outside the big window of the dome. The warmth from the wood-burning stove and a nice down duvet will steer you safely through the night. If you are very lucky, you will see the Northern Lights in the sky above you from your bed.
Breakfast is included and is served in the GLØD lounge.
We can offer a three course dinner every night. The menu varies according to the season, and we like to serve cod, lamb, reindeer, elk and salmon. Dinner must be ordered in advance.
The Aurora Canvas Domes have a small bathroom with toilet and you will find shower and sauna in the GLØD lounge about 30 m from the dome.
Our elegant Boutique Apartment for up to four (five) people is ideal for anyone who would prefer quiet and peaceful days in the pine forest in the countryside rather than staying in the town centre. You can relax and unwind in a peaceful setting where life and the time keep the same pace.
Breakfast can be included and will be served in the GLØD lounge.

All the food we serve is produced in our kitchen. We are proud to be able to offer both local food and an international menu, based on local and regional ingredients.
Typical raw materials with us are cod, salmon, shellfish, reindeer, lamb and moose. These are often served in the season for which they are typical.
Enjoy delicious food either inside the GLØD living room or outside in our large lavvo.
In connection with the stor-lavvoen, we have our own stylish outdoor area, with bar and outdoor kitchen. There, the service can also be more casual, such as barbecue and Italian pizza from our pizza oven.

Fresh snow. Quiet forest. Smiling guests of all ages walking winter paths like our ancestors. Snowshoeing in Alta isn’t just a tour — it’s a gentle step into Arctic culture. ❄️
It is one of the simplest ways to experience Arctic nature up close. Whether you join our 3-hour forest adventure or the longer trip with ice fishing and lunch by the fire, the heartbeat of the experience stays the same: We move quietly through pine forests along the Alta River, noticing animal tracks in the snow, or we pause at viewpoints above the Altafjord, and learn about life in the North — past and present.
Snowshoes have been used for thousands of years, long before modern roads or machines. They made it possible for people to hunt, migrate, and survive in deep winter. Today, they allow us to slow down and experience the landscape in a different way — steady steps, shared stories, and time outdoors.
On our snowshoe tours in Alta, we combine movement with culture and tradition. We light a bonfire, serve hot drinks, sometimes try ice fishing, and are often joined by one of our huskies. Extra warm clothes and transfers are included, so guests of all ages can comfortably enjoy real Arctic winter.
This is Norwegian outdoor life in its most welcoming form — nature, tradition, and togetherness in the North.
Winter light through the pine forest. Skis gliding quietly. A small group moving together through fresh tracks in Alta, Northern Norway. 🎿❄️
Our cross-country skiing tours in Alta are about more than technique — they’re about rhythm, flow, and time outdoors. Some days we head above the tree line toward the Finnmarksvidda plateau. Other days we stay in the forest, following dog sledding and snowmobile trails through the Alta Valley. The route is always shaped by weather, snow conditions, and the group.
We offer both a three-hour introduction to cross-country skiing and a longer day tour with lunch around an open fire. No matter your level, we focus on balance, coordination, and that feeling of moving naturally through winter terrain. We pause to brew coffee and tea over the fire, share simple food, and take in the quiet.
Ski gear, warm layers if needed, and transfers are included — so you can simply show up and step into Norwegian winter.
This is cross-country skiing in Northern Norway. This is friluftsliv in its simplest form.
Northern Lights in Alta, Northern Norway — a reminder that some moments are not just about what you see, but who you share them with. ✨
On clear Arctic nights, the aurora moves above the pine forest, shifting between greens, reds, and soft waves of light. Whether you’re visiting Alta for the first time or returning for another winter, the experience never feels the same twice.
Aurora season in Northern Norway is here — and we’re curious what the next night will bring.
The days have been colder than usual in Alta — the kind of cold that sharpens the air and quiets the landscape. ❄️
As twilight settles in, there’s comfort in warming up inside our Aurora Canvas Domes. A steady fire, soft light, and wide windows looking out toward the silent pine forest, where winter moves slowly and undisturbed.
On quiet evenings, wildlife sometimes passes through — a hare in the snow, a fox on the trail, maybe even a moose moving between the trees. And on clear nights, the Arctic sky above the domes reminds you just how close nature really is.
This is glamping in Northern Norway: warm shelter, frosted views, and time to slow down in the Arctic wilderness — with the Northern Lights always a possibility. 😉
