Active Winter Weekend | Alta - Norway

This package includes our popular evening tours Hunting the Northern Lights and Aurora & fatbike. The daytime activities are dog sledding with Trasti&Trine and a snowmobile safari including a guided tour at Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel! Spend the nights in our stylish Aurora Canvas Dome or GLØD Boutique Apartment in the small pine forest right beside Glød HQ.

The activities

This package is a super compact edition of Alta’s top winter experiences. For the activities provided by our partners, you will be picked up at Glød HQ, given the necessary instruction, clothing and safety equipment and dropped back after a wonderful adventure.

This package is also suitable for children from age 9-10. (We have small fatbikes).

Transfers

We will meet you on arrival at Alta Airport and transport your safely to Glød for check-in. A transfer back to the airport on departure and all transfers between activities are included.

Accommodation

You spend the nights in our stylish Aurora Canvas Dome, which is situated in a small pine forest on the fringes of the “England forest” behind Glød HQ. We and our architect believe this takes glamping to a whole new level! The dome features a large and extremely comfortable Wonderland bed, nice down duvets, a wood-burning stove, underfloor heating, electricity and Wi-Fi. The wall facing northwards and much of the roof are transparent, which enables you to experience the Northern Lights, weather, wind, small birds and squirrels from the warm and cosy atmosphere. Each dome has its own toilet and wash-hand basin.

Alternatively, you can stay in our modern and stylish GLØD Boutique Apartment, which is also an excellent option for families.

Meals

The following meals are included: breakfast each morning, lunch on days 2 and 3, light meal (Soup of the Evening) before Hunting the Northern Lights (first evening) and dinner after the sauna (second evening).

Day 1

Pick-up at the airport and check-in
16:30 – 19: Dog sledding
19 – 23:30: Hunting the Northern Lights, including the Soup of the Evening served with bread
Stay overnight in an Aurora Canvas Dome or the GLØD Boutique Apartment

Day 2

Breakfast
10 – 14:30: Snowshoeing and ice fishing including lunch
16 – 19: Aurora & fatbike
Sauna/shower and dinner
Stay overnight in an Aurora Canvas Dome or the GLØD Boutique Apartment

Day 3

Check-out
11 – 14: Snowmobile safari on the Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau and visit at the the Igloo Hotel including lunch

The package price is based on twin share/double room with two people per snowmobile and dog sled

Single room supplement: NOK 3,600 (one person in the dome and on the snowmobile)

Extra night in the Aurora Canvas Dome: NOK 1,800 per person sharing a double room, breakfast included

Dog sledding at Trasti&Trine

We provide brief and precise instructions about how to drive a dog sled before we enter the dog enclosure, where many happy Alaskan huskies are waiting to meet you

Snowshoeing, Ice fishing, Husky & Lunch

Welcome to a four and a half hour trip to GLØD’s wilderness camp just outside Alta combining snowshoeing and ice fishing. A hot lunch is also included. We will be joined by a husky to help us pull the gear.

Snowmobile safari, visit at the Iglo Hotel and lunch

Sorrisniva has long traditions with snowmobiling, as one of the first provider in Norway. Explore the nature of Northern Norway while their experienced guides will give you a safe experience on the snowmobile.

Afterwards you get to visit the Igloo Hotel and then an enjoyable lunch in their restaurant.
