Alta – Norway’s fatbike capital
The Alta Valley and Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau are a paradise for fatbiking. There are miles of specially prepared fatbiking trails and (infinite) miles of dog sledding trails and snowmobile tracks. This provides wonderful conditions for long trips by fatbike, which despite the fat tyres require prepared trails to ensure a good flow. However, in the springtime when the snow becomes hard due to the sun and frost, you can bike wherever you wish in the terrain. This gives an amazing feeling of freedom!
We are the first and only company in Alta to have the pleasure of offering short and long guided fatbike trips and fatbike rental. If you join us on a trip or rent a fatbike and head out on your own, you won’t have any regrets!
Climate
Alta enjoys a sheltered location at the head of the Altafjord, which offers a favourable climate for fatbikers. During the wintertime, there is generally little snow, cold and stable weather for weeks on end and seldom any wind. This means when the routes are prepared and used, they simply get better and better. Little snow drift combined with the fact that heavy snowfalls are rare mean the trails remain in great shape for a long time without the need for much work. This creates trails with flow!
Two trips every day
We offer two short fatbike trips – one in the daytime and the other in the late afternoon/early evening. Both tours last about three hours. If we are lucky, the evening tour will give you an opportunity to experience the Northern Lights during winter.
Electric or analog (NEW!)
Our tours are primarily on electric fat bikes. This means that the effort is a little less, the difference between fit and slightly less fit cyclists is minimal, and the opportunities for play, speed and fun are even greater than on analog fat bikes.
However, if you are a fit and experienced cyclist, we also have a great, analog fat bike for you!

Finnmarksvidda by Fatbike
We run an annual three-day fatbike crossing of the famous Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau. This takes place in April, when the plateau bathes in sun, snow and reindeer. Luggage transport provided by eager huskies pulling expedition sleds along with accommodation, sauna and dinner at mountain lodges combine to make this an unforgettable adventure. There is little doubt that crossing the Finnmarksvidda mountain plateau – by fatbike – is the most beautiful adventure during the springtime!
