Starting from GLØD HQ, we prepare kilometre after kilometre of fatbike trails, which are linked to the network of trails: Breivik, Thomassen and Losvar. Add to this the miles of dog sledding and snowmobile trails in the Alta Valley.  This means the best single tracks you can dream of and an unforgettable nature-based experience with a large portion of exercise included for good measure. This is biking with FLOW!

Information

The daytime electrical fatbike trip is in the daylight and the length and level will be based on the participants’ fitness level and biking experience. Riding a fatbike is surprisingly easy. However, it does not power itself and you need to provide the necessary pressure on the pedals and forward thrust. To participate in this activity, you need to be able to ride a bike and must be in normal physical form.

Electric or analog (NEW!)

Our tours are primarily on electric fat bikes. This means that the effort is a little less, the difference between fit and slightly less fit cyclists is minimal, and the opportunities for play, speed and fun are even greater than on analog fat bikes.

However, if you are a fit and experienced cyclist, we also have a great, analog fat bike for you!

Rest by an open fire

We stop to light a fire at one of the many rustic shelters in the Alta Valley and enjoy snacks and tea/coffee brewed on the fire. Alternatively, we can relax around the fire in the large lavvu (Sami herdsmen’s tent) when we return to GLØD HQ.

Duration

The duration of the tour is three hours, from the time you are picked up at your hotel until you are dropped off again, 10:00 – 13:00 (10 am – 1 pm). The normal biking time will be 60-90 min.

Clothing

We recommend wearing ski pants and a windproof jacket. If the temperature is low, add woollen long johns and top. You also need warm winter shoes, a hat and windproof mittens/gloves. We recommend bringing a small backpack with space for some spare clothes, such as a down jacket to wear during the break! If you don’t have one, we will fix it.

Moreover, we recommend wearing two pairs of woolen socks (preferably one thin and one thick pair).

Arctic Living

Riding a fat bike is something many people in Alta do. It is an easy way to get from A to B, whether it is to get to work, shop or deliver and pick up at the kindergarten. As a guest with us, on the fat bike trails in Alta, you will therefore be able to experience meeting locals, perhaps on the same errand as you. Fat biking is in many ways a kinderegg experience; it is a nature experience, exercise and it is environmentally friendly

Price

Children under 12 NOK 900

The tour price includes rental of a fatbike, helmet, transfers, down jacket, Neos overshoes, snacks and guide. The bikes are fitted with platform pedals. If you would prefer clipless pedals, just let us know (and then you won’t need the Neos overshoes)
